2012 Suits & Sneakers Gala

Leon Farmer and Company is involved with many local community events benefitting causes that are dear to our hearts, such as the Mystery in the Gardens for March of Dimes and the Classic City Brewfest for the Athens Humane Society. 2012 marks our second year as a proud sponsor of an American Cancer Society fundraiser now entering its 3rd year in Athens, GA.

Suits & Sneakers is a large benefit inspired by members of Coaches vs. Cancer, an organization of basketball coaches dedicated to supporting the fight against cancer. When Head Coach Mark Fox joined UGA’s basketball team in 2009, he brought the spirit of Coaches vs. Cancer with him and began the annual Athens Suits & Sneakers Gala, a night of local food and drink, dancing, games and and silent and live auctions. The third annual Gala takes place on August 18, 2012 at UGA’s Stegeman Coliseum.

Because it’s a local event benefitting local cancer patients and caregivers, businesses around Georgia are happy to participate and show their support. This year, many of our fellow beer businesses got involved to provide a unique addition to the silent auction! If you’re attending the Gala this year, here are some of the things you can expect to find (and bid on) at the silent auction: a lifetime subscription and merchandise from Atlanta-based Beer Connoisseur Magazine, a home-brewing kit from Widmer Brothers Brewing Company, a brewing session with Gratis Home Brewing, and two tickets to a tour from Atlanta Beer Tours. In addition to these beery items, the silent and live auctions will also feature local goods and services, vacations, outdoor experiences, and of course many autographed athletic merchandise from popular coaches and athletes.
