It’s been a while since the last blog post, and quite a bit has happened in the beer world as well as in the bulldog community. Here’s an update:
First of all, Georgia’s official football schedule for this fall was released yesterday along with the rest of the SEC. Check out the week-by-week list here. We open the season in Atlanta against Boise State – can’t wait! Like last year, I’ll post a full schedule of UGA’s games with times, locations and TV channels closer to September. And of course I will post an ideal beer to enjoy with the game! Since we’ve added quite a few new brews to our lineup in the last year, it’ll be an all-new list with some favorites from Lazy Magnolia, Southern Tier and Redhook!
Brewfest arrives in the Classic City in less than two weeks at the Foundry Park Inn and Spa. Tickets are sold out, so I hope you bought yours well in advance! Read up on this year’s Brewfest and its attending breweries here. Make sure you know how to enjoy a brewfest before you go. And don’t forget your pretzel necklace.
On a more serious note, I’m sure you’re all aware of the tragedy that struck Japan earlier this month. Thousands of people lost their belongings, homes, family members or their own lives in the earthquake and its aftermath. While we pray every day for the safety and health of those affected, we’d also like to send our thoughts to the breweries of Japan, who also face uncertain futures. Our own brewing partner Kirin reported a halt in operations to survey the damage to three of its breweries and to extend the search for several missing employees.
As we brew, sell, discuss and drink in the coming weeks on American soil, please raise a glass, a prayer, and maybe even a donation to the efforts of all those involved in the crisis surrounding Japan’s earthquake victims.
