Who Needs Eggnog?

If you want to get creative this holiday, try cooking a little beer into every aspect of your Thanksgiving meal! When cooked, beer loses its alcoholic content and only the sweet aromas and flavors are left behind. Magic Hat has some great recipes ready and waiting for your dining pleasure on its website, but here are some that would taste great together!

The most important aspect of any good Thanksgiving dinner is the turkey. Magic Hat suggests this recipe, which uses lemon, orange, sage, rosemary, oregano and onion for a perfectly seasoned bird lovingly basted with a couple of bottles of Magic Hat #9.

Dressing, traditionally used to stuff the turkey, is also used as a complementary side. This year, how about a fresh handmade mushroom stuffing with a little Howl in the recipe? Magic Hat mushroom stuffing is flavored with a variety of spices including parsley, sage, thyme and garlic. Pecans add a little crunch to the mix!

Green bean casserole is a staple at holiday dinners. This recipe calls for a bottle of Encore, Magic Hat’s current IPA on Tour. It’s basically cooked the same way as a regular green bean casserole, but this recipe throws a little extra seasoning in for a unique taste that will make your dinner exquisite.

A family get-together dinner is never complete without bread. Last year I posted a recipe that called for store-bought mix + beer. This Thanksgiving offer your loved ones a homemade loaf of #9 beer bread! The recipe calls for just three ingredients and is a great dish to let the kids help with. Just make sure the adults are the ones to pour the beer into the batter and enjoy any leftover ingredients. (Last week I made this with my dinner and it was delish)

A nice sweet potato soup should round out the dinner portion of the meal nicely. This soup dish uses two bottles of #9. A little allspice, ginger and maple syrup sweeten the tastiness of this dish!

For dessert, a scrumptious pumpkin cheesecake flavored with the current Odd Notion – a red American ale.

A Winterland Variety 12-pack includes all of the beers necessary to cook this incredible array of dishes. And there will be a few bottles left over for the grown-ups to enjoy with the meal!

If you like these recipes but already planned out this year’s turkey, try some of these dishes between now and New Year’s!

Vegetarian Chili

Winter Apple Cheddar Chicken Calzones

Beer Cheese Soup
