An exciting weekend is just ahead!
Start your Saturday off by learning about recycling and conserving the environment at the Green Life Expo in Athens. It will be held in the Classic Center Grand Hall 9am-5pm, and will feature everything from water-saving appliances to homemade carpet cleaner and more. Yours truly will be there with a table full of interesting uses for beer (besides drinking it), so stop by the Leon Farmer and Company booth when you visit!
The Expo is free to the public, and so is parking at the Classic Center all day on Saturday, January 28th. Bring unusual recyclables like styrofoam, batteries, light bulbs, cds and appliances for collection by the recycling center. Habitat for Humanity will also be collecting donations for the Habitat ReStore. To see a full list of participating booths, vendors and seminars, please visit GreenLifeAthens.com to learn more! You can also visit the Facebook event. PS – sometimes Captain Planet makes an appearance. No fooling.
After you’ve enriched your knowledge of protecting the environment, head to Atlanta for the Atlanta Winter Beerfest (AWBF)! Taking place at Masquerade from 3-8pm, AWBF will have more than 100 great craft beers as well as live music on four stages around the venue. Tickets are $35 in advance and $45 the day of the event. Food from local vendors will also be available for purchase. The Beer List for AWBF includes several local breweries from Atlanta and Athens, so make sure to check it out! Parking is available near the venue, but please take a taxi or coordinate a ride home if you plan on drinking. Safety first!
