We’re thrilled to share yet another new brewery with our friends and fellow beer drinkers. Eagle & Lion, a small brewpub in Griffin, GA, commemorates its distribution in the Athens area tonight with the tapping of cask-conditioned English “real ales” and a meet-and-greet with owner and head brewer Mark Broe.
Broe got his start brewing while he was a chiropractor in London, where he fell in love with English ale styles and decided to begin a second career in beer. He brought his skill back to the United States several years later and opened Eagle & Lion to share his love of “real ale” in a country where real ale is nearly impossible to come by. Real ale is served from the cask in which it ferments, and offers a lighter, lower ABV style than many craft beers consumed in America today. The brewpub was recently featured in an article on Georgia breweries in Southern Distinction Magazine.
Three year-round brews from Broe will be available at local cask-pouring establishments: Brass Monkey, Yes Face IPA and East Griffin Stout. Welcome to Athens, Eagle & Lion!
