Magic Hat to Recycle Spent Grain for Power

Eric Fitch began Purpose Energy Inc. in Arlington two years ago to create an alternative form of energy for large energy consumers. The company has since collaborated with Magic Hat Brewing Company to reuse their beer brewing byproducts as an alternative to natural gas, and will be constructing a 2 billion BTU digester adjacent to the Brewing Company in Vermont, where it will take the spent grain of the beer fermentation process and break it down into methane that can power parts of the brewery.
