Redhook Brewery in Portsmouth, New Hampshire began collecting food three years ago to help stock shelves for those in need during the winter holidays. Donations always seemed to dwindle after New Year’s, so this year the brewery decided to host the drive after the holidays. Beginning on January 11 and continuing through February 11, 2010, Redhook will collect non-perishable food items at its Cataqua Pub inside the brewery to give to local Seacoast food pantries.
The brewery invites visitors to the brewery, restaurant or pub to donate at least 2 non-perishable food items, and in return will provide them with special pricing on their beverage of choice. Previous drives have contributed more than 350 pounds of food and Redhook hopes to see even more come in this year. So if you happen to be in Portsmouth over the next few weeks, stop by and drop off a can or two to help the cause!
