Leon Farmer and Company may not be a distributor of Sweetwater Brewing Co., but I have a lot of respect for the brewery and the reputation it has brought to craft brewing in the South. Sweetwater was mentioned Saturday in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in an article highlighting their success over the years.
Sweetwater Brewing Co. has been growing its production by leaps and bounds since it first settled in Midtown Atlanta; recently it saw the addition of an “automated palletizer” in its brewhouse, a sure sign of solid growth now and in the years to come. The robot-like device, located at the end of the bottling line, stacks cases of beer on pallets and encases them in clear shrink-wrap for shipment. For craft brewers, the addition of an automated palletizer means less labor by hand, which means more hands available for other parts of the beer-making process.
