An Election You Don't Want to Miss

It’s 2012, and there is a lot of voting going on around the country. Here’s one ballot that’s worth your discussion and your vote!

PARTICIPATION is key here, folks. It’s also the name of the Fall variety pack from Magic Hat Brewing Company. Returning incumbents #9, hI.P.A. and Hex need your help to fill the open slot in their “2012 Participation Pak.” The primaries began on January 10 and continue until March 6. Final votes take place March 7 – April 6. Who are the candidates, you ask? Let’s meet them!

Jinx – It’s okay to be a wee heavy! Jinx is a peat-smoked, whiskey malt-mashed, Scotch gentleman. He once held office in the Night of the Living Dead variety pack. He boasts an ABV of 6.3% and 23 IBUS. He’s a big beer, but he doesn’t let that stop him from being a beer anyone would be proud to know.

Miss Bliss – Put a little spice in your life! Miss Bliss takes a proactive approach to heightening traditional brewing standards and surging past the limiting purity laws in foreign countries. This is ’Merica! She brings coriander, orange peel and malted rye to the table – a candidate for the future! Her paperwork states a 4.4% ABV and 20 IBUs. (By the way, I publicly endorse Miss B – she sounds thrilling!)

Fat Angel – Balance in an unbalanced world. Fat Angel knows it’s rough out there. He knows about the extreme hopping, the overmalting. He wants to make things less stressful with “a paler shade of ale.” He wants to share his 4.8% ABV and 28 IBUs with you and get back to what matters – comfort in a simple beer. He’s a people’s beer.

Mother Lager – Lagers of the world unite! Lagers have faced years of oppression and struggle in their fight to ferment proudly with their beer brothers and sisters! Mother Lager wants a revolution! Her place in the Participation Pak would give lagers everywhere a chance to be heard. She offers 4.8% ABV and 17 IBUs to her voters.

Humble Patience – All you need is patience. Just a little patience! Humble Patience is of Irish Red heritage. He knows what it’s like to work your way up as the underdog from a different background. He wants to bring session beers back into power! He believes that his 4.6% ABV and 20 IBUs are part of a class that needs a voice! And he believes that patience is the key to succeeding in this race.

Hocus Pocus – The will to chill. America needs a chill beer, America. That’s what Hocus Pocus wants to give it. Sunshine and happiness in the dead of winter, dudes. He’s a summer beer with 4.5% ABV and 13 IBUs ready to prove that all you need is some hippie vibes in your life when it’s cold outside!

Single Chair – A golden ticket to refreshment! Single Chair knows what you want. He’s a golden pilsner with a plan. His party says that the taste buds of all you Independents out there want an easy drinking experience, and he is here to BRING IT. Are you tried of the big beers? Elect Single Chair and let his 5.0% ABV and 17 IBUs show you what it’s like to elect the original beer. His campaign? Malt. Hops. Yeast. Water.
